You bring up very interesting points that highlight our diversity as Baptists. I came from the Texas Panhandle and have attended Baptist churches for 56 years. I never heard of "Hanging of the Greens" until I served as interim pastor in California. The congregation wondered where I'd been through the years.
Also, I just looked in Webster's New World Dictionary to get the correct spelling of what I always called a nativity scene....I hesitate to try to spell "cresche" (sic, I suppose) since I couldn't find it in the dictionary. But the term is used in many churches.
I agree with you that we can enjoy multiple expressions of our devotion and worship of the Savior. Absolute conformity would be stilting and uncreative. That's truly one of the beauties of our diversity.
